I am writing this in hopes that it will encourage others that are weight challenged like myself. Let's become big losers together.
At 350 lbs I started walking 3-5 miles per day 5 days per week in May 2008. Started out slow at first only walking one mile huffing and puffing to walk up one flight of stairs and taking almost 5 minutes to recover.
May Weight Loss was 10 lbs
Still huffing and puffing up that flight of stairs but only taking about 2-3 minutes to recover.
June Weight Loss 24 lbs (maybe too much too fast but I am feeling ok)
Main observation is that even though I do not burn off all the 2500 calorie intake each day that I am able to maintain a steady weight loss. Only changes to my diet were in breakfast and lunch and only in the quantity and not the quality. The other change is that since I am eating smaller quantities that I can add a snack in between breakfast and lunch.
Stairs what stairs did we climb some stairs I didn't notice. That same flight of stairs cause slightly heavier breathing but only taking about 30-45 seconds to recover. Have changed my walking route to include inclines for cardio. We now walk in the parking garage up four stories and down. We walk each floor in it's entirety before moving up or down a level. This is a 1.5 mile walk we do sometimes twice a day. Takes less than 30 minutes now.
July 1, 2008 Weight 314 lbs walked 5.14 miles today
My goal this month is to make my walk schedule consistent. Starting with 1 mile before work and then a 1.5 mile after lunch. My regular walking during the day amounts to 1.5 mile all by itself. That alone is 4 miles if I will walk it. I only do this on work days and not weekends. And my other goal is to tackle two flights of stairs.

July 30, 2008 OK I didn't reach my walking goal so I still have to really get to work. Weigh in day is coming upon me fast oh wait that's tomorrow oh joy not on goal for steps I am scared to weigh myself. Oh well I have to step up on the scale and see what I have done. I know the last two days I have had some big meals so I don't think I have had a huge weight loss this month. Oh Wait tomorrow is the 31st so I have one more day of walking to do. I hit my goal today I walked 4.8 miles and did 4 flights of stairs and I have been averaging 3+ miles per day so maybe we will have some weight loss.
OK I lost 7 more pounds YAY! Not as good as the month before but I kind of lost focus and had some big lunch and dinner things this past month. Time to get on the ball though. The goal for the month of August is to add 2 flights of stairs and 10,000 steps per day 5 days per week which also means that I will need to have at least an hour of aerobic steps. So keep praying for me please so the goal will be met and I can have the endurance to walk even in the 100 degree days of August in Texas. Next weigh in will be September 1 or maybe the 2nd not sure but I think we have a holiday on the 1st. I have that date highlighted on my calendar for some reason.
8-7-2008 YAY! I made 6.29 miles today! 13,299 steps 10,648 aerobic steps in 1 hour 2 minutes. That's huge for this big old boy. A new milestone and another goal to set. Praise God for His help with this!
8-25-2008 OK broke a record today!!!! 6.7 miles today! 14,072 steps 11,077 aerobic steps in 108 minutes. YES YES YES YES YES almost time to put on the new pants! Found all my pants that I had grown out of. I thought I threw them away but I found them yesterday while cleaning up. Actually found 3 pairs that still have the stickers on them from the store never been worn. I can't wait to weigh in! I need pictures. Praise God for all His work He is doing!
8-26-2008 broke my step record today with 14,096 but my aerobic steps were 10,187 in 10 minutes less time than yesterday. It was raining today though so YAY.
9-2-2008 My official weight is 304. Oh well 3 lbs lost is better than gain. I ate a lot over the holiday weekend and didn't walk much. But that's ok I am back on track and walked 9500 steps today.
