“Living
Sacrifices”
Romans
12:1-2 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your
bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a]
act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Not
an easy task is it? We live in this
world and it is very difficult to separate ourselves from it.
Lots of people go into what is called the “Christian Trough” and
others just hide in the safety of the four walls of the church.
Neither of which are healthy for any length of time.
The Christian trough will keep you away from the world but there is a
worldliness amongst them that is not good and when you stay in the four walls of
the church and just warm the pew there is danger in that as well and it is
complacency. We need a renewing of
our minds to keep us from being caught up by the world and the only place that
can be found is in that relationship with Christ that so many say they have yet
do not show with the way they live their lives.
The “Christian Trough” is nothing more than a group of Christians
feeding off of each others spiritual weakness.
They cannot face the world without being caught up in it and falling.
If you don’t fall how are you going to build your faith?
I am not saying to purposely go do something wrong but when we face the
world and try and live a life pleasing to the Lord we fail but in failure there
is growth and a strengthening of the spirit within us.
Don’t hide from the world but go in it and show that nasty old place
that there is a better way to live in it with peace and love through Jesus
Christ.
Key
Verses:
4Just
as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have
the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member
belongs to all the others.
