“Dry Crusty Bread”

Proverbs 17:1; Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting with strife.  Sounds like Christmas Eve family get together to me.  You’re looking for that crusty piece of bread and that peace before the in-laws and the outlaws get there.  Oh don’t tell me you don’t have that because every family does.  Mine is full with outlaws and in-laws and not necessarily mine.  This reminds me of a song “Better is One Day”, you know the song, better is one day in Your courts than thousands elsewhere.  Oh yeah, that’s a Psalm too:

Psalm 84:10
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Psalm 84:9-11 (in Context) Psalm 84 (Whole Chapter)

I think that is what Solomon is getting at in this verse of Proverbs.  I would rather be in heaven eating dry crusty bread than having to continue an eternity here.  I have found several profound wisdoms here in this chapter read it with an open heart.

Proverbs 17

Key Verses:

Proverbs 17:13
If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house.
Proverbs 17:12-14 (in Context) Proverbs 17 (Whole Chapter)

Proverbs 17:14
Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.
Proverbs 17:13-15 (in Context) Proverbs 17 (Whole Chapter)
