“Warning
Against the Adulteress”
I
want to add adulterer as well because this is a man and woman thing not just a
woman thing. Men are just as guilty
when it comes to trying to get a woman. Like
my mom always says, “it takes two to tango”.
Solomon has told a scary tale of death that comes with the adultery, he
says: “All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a
deer stepping into a noose till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting
into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life”. Their
words are smooth as silk and as intoxicating as liquor and once they have set
their mind on you it will be hard to resist but you must. Solomon goes on to
say, “My son (children) keep my words and store up my commands within you.
Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to
wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding your kinsman; they
will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive
words.” These words will keep you
away from the wayward husband and his seductive words too.
When these temptations appear to you cry out for Jesus to rescue you from
the temptations before you. Cry out
until you hear His voice and you will be released from the temptation and be set
free from the bondage of this sin. Don’t
give in and don’t give up because the evil of this world we live in has made
it sweet to the smell and soft to the touch yet it will bring death.
