“Warning
Against Folly & Warning Against Adultery”
I
find it interesting that even though there was a warning against adultery in
Proverbs 5 that it continues in 6 and I know it doesn’t stop there because
tomorrow we will be taking it a step further. So how important do you think this is? It’s obviously a hot button for God and important enough to
be the theme of 3 chapters in the book of Proverbs since this is the book of
gaining wisdom I think it wise to stay out of adultery.
The warnings against folly and adultery being in the same chapter also
tells me that playing around with another person other than your spouse is just
trouble looking for a place to happen even if you are just playing. In verse
16-19 it states that there are 6 things the LORD hates and 7 that are detestable
to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart
that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false
witness who pours out lies, and a man who stirs up dissention among brothers.
Now who of you have not done at least one of those things?
Well in the next section on adultery it says that a man who commits
adultery lacks judgment and whoever does so destroys himself.
It also says the shame of his adultery will never be wiped away.
WOW, that’s a hard nut to swallow isn’t it?
Lust for another man’s wife is not good and will lead to pain and
suffering not only to the two who are in adultery but to both families.
If you are doing these things it is time to stop and rethink your
actions. Is this affair worth a
lifetime of shame? Is it worth the
destruction of families? What about
the children? Are you setting a
good example for them? I pray that
if you are in this situation that you break it off and go to Jesus for
repentance and get cleansed by Living Water.
This sin you are living in leads to one thing, “Death” and maybe not
a physical one but a spiritual one because God cannot be in the presence of sin.
If you hear that voice telling you to stop and you don’t stop it will
eventually not be audible anymore. Not
that God approves but that you are so deep in your sin that you cannot hear Him
anymore. STOP! And repent before it’s too late!
