“HURRY
UP, no, wait”
The
loud voice says to hurry and the soft one says wait.
Can you tell which one you should be listening to?
Surely I am not the only one that jumps at the loud voice?
In the Old Testament we read over and over about God’s voice and how it
sounded to the people. At times
when God spoke people thought it was thunder because it was loud.
Deuteronomy
4:12
Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw
no form; there was only a voice.
Deuteronomy
4:36
From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you
his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire.
Deuteronomy
5:23
When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with
fire, all the leading men of your tribes and your elders came to me.
Ezekiel
1:25
Then there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads as they stood
with lowered wings.
Matthew
3:17
And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am
well pleased."
The
voice of God is the voice of Love. He
will not tell you to harm yourself or anyone else.
The voice that tells you to HURRY is not likely the voice of God unless
you are in a place that you will be hurt. The
voice that tells you to wait is likely the voice of God especially when it comes
to matters of the heart. When you
hear God’s voice it will be very distinct and will not be confusing because
confusion is not of God. It will be
clear and precise and there will be no doubt about what was said.
You will have peace and you will know that you know that you know it was
Him who speaks only truth. For most
His voice is very small so you have to listen very closely and you have to be
still and know that He is God. For
others it is like He is sitting there with you in the room right next to you.
You can always rest assured that the voice of satan will be full of one
thing and one thing only and that is lies.
You having trouble determining if what you heard is the truth then look
for it in His Word and if it is in line with the final authority then you can be
assured that it is from God, even if it isn’t what you wanted to hear because
believe it or not God does say no. We
as children have a hard time with that word.
We don’t want anyone to tell us no.
But out of His Perfect Love He does say no.
