“Will
You Be My Friend?”
Jesus
calls us friend. Greater love has
no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Would you do that for me? Are
you willing to lay down your life? I
am. I can honestly say that at this
point in my spiritual walk with Jesus that I have no problem with that
statement. Is your walk with Jesus
this strong? Maybe not and that is
ok, because it takes many years sometimes to get to this point of service to Him
that you are ready to lay your life down for Him.
John 15 sums this up in a nutshell for us.
An interesting piece of this scriptures is where Jesus says that “You
are my friends if you do what I command.”
What exactly is He talking about here?
Jesus is our Lord, right? When
your King commands you to do something you do it or you don’t and if you
don’t there are consequences to that and rewards for those who do. I know that if we do what Jesus commands He will call us
friend and if He calls us friend we have nothing to fear. Oh but being a friend of Jesus brings many enemies bent on
killing you. Greater love has no
one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
