I
hope everyone kept up last week. I
am sorry but work was a bear and I didn’t have the time to write the PRaP last
week.
This
part of the Bible is a history book of sorts that reviews the kings.
These chapters are a review of David’s rule over Israel.
We begin with David becoming king over Israel then we see David conquers
Jerusalem. Next we read about
David’s mighty men and it is basically a role call.
Then we read about the warriors that joined David at Ziklag. It gives a description of who they were and their weapons of
choice and then we go on to read about the others that join him at Hebron and
the quantities and weapons they carried. Chapter
13 covers the return of the Ark of The Covenant and Chapter 14 very briefly
covers David’s house and family. After
that David defeats the Phillistines and then we see that the Ark is brought to
Jerusalem and David danced and celebrated. 29
As the ark of the covenant of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal
daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David dancing and
celebrating, she despised him in her heart.
