here we go. Amnon, David’s son,
decided he was in love with his sister Tamar. He pretended to be ill and had her come and make bread for
him and he overpowered her and raped her and then he hated her.
This one incestuous act will cause trouble for not just the family but
for the entire Israelite community. You
see sin grows and grows. You may
think what you are doing is a “little white lie” but it grows into a huge
monster. Let me give you a run down of what happened.
Amnon’s lust for his sister turned to rape and then the rape turned
into shame and then Absalom, Amnon’s brother, kills him and then Absalom
flees. Now the place in which
Absalom fled didn’t know of the murder and a woman that was sent by Joab was
to pretend to be in mourning to inform the king.
Now the king sent Absalom away and Absalom began to lie to people and
made up a conspiracy and had people that began to tell the lie that Absalom was
the king of Hebron and this made David afraid that his very own son will try to
kill him so he fled with all his people. Then
the priest got involved in the lies and then Absalom slept with David’s
concubines in the sight of all Israel and it gets messier and messier and the
sin grows more and more. But we all
know the price for sin. We will
continue this mess tomorrow.
