Moses is still reviewing in these chapters
and there are some valuable lessons in these chapters. Two
of note that I want to bring up and you need to remember these especially as
we get into Kings.
Deuteronomy 17:14-17

When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you and have taken
possession of it and settled in it, and you say, "Let us set a king over
us like all the nations around us," 15 be sure
to appoint over you the king the LORD your God chooses. He must be from among
your own brothers. Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not a brother
Israelite. 16 The king, moreover, must not acquire
great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get
more of them, for the LORD has told you, "You are not to go back that way
again." 17 He must not take many wives, or his
heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and
gold.
Also Deuteronomy 18:9-13

When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to
imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [a]
the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in
witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or
spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who
does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable
practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13
You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
Over and over again the Bible
says that God finds these things detestable. Why is it that
over and over again we have to battle with people who think these things are
ok to do? If God is the same today as He was then why is it
even a question that witchcraft is wrong, that homosexual activity is wrong?
I will tell you why. The people of today are more
stiff necked than the Israelites ever were. It floors me
daily that people cannot see what they are doing is leading them away from
God. WAKE UP FOLKS! YOUR HEADED DOWN THE
WRONG PATH! How many times do we need to hang Christ on the
cross for your sin? If you have the opportunity tune in to
the radio station tonight. I know the music may not be what
you like but the message will be powerful.
