Well the Israelites are traveling and moving
about from place to place waiting to see where the LORD will stop.
Sometimes it was just an overnighter and sometimes it was for days,
months, or even a year. They made trumpets
to be used as signals for assembly, move out signal, and for worship.
Those of you who think that God doesn’t like musical instruments, why
would He have the Israelites make trumpets that would even be blown at times
of offering? Ok now the Israelites began to whine about
having to eat manna all the time so God gave them quail. So
much quail it made them sick. The LORD’s anger burned so
hot against them He sent a plague through the camp before the first bite of
meat could pass through their mouth to their stomachs. Even
before the quail thing they were whining about their hardships and fire from
the LORD burned around the outskirts of the camp. Now here
is a group of people that God is taking to a promised land that have sinned
against Him over and over again. They never had to worry
about food, their clothes never wore out, their sandals never wore out, their
tents never wore out, they always had water to drink and all they can do is
complain. No wonder God was angry, whiney babies!
If you had followed God’s plan and not sinned against Him you
wouldn’t have had to wander through the desert for 40 years. Now
dig this even after all this happened Miriam and Aaron oppose Moses.
Oh boy here we go again. People opposing God’s
chosen leader. What are they crazy? Well
Miriam is the one that gets to pay the price for this one. She
was put in time out for a WEEK!
