Here is some good stuff to go into your
weekend with. In these chapters God makes a covenant with
Moses and Moses also gets to see all of God’s glory except for His face
because Moses would die if he saw God’s face in full glory. Now
in chapter 33 God tells Moses that He will send His angel to lead because
these people are a “stiff necked” people meaning they are hard headed and
fall away quickly. God was ready to destroy the lot of them
for sure. But Moses appealed to God reminding him that
these people belonged to Him as if He needed reminding LOL. Here
it speaks of the tent of meeting and the place where Moses went to speak with
God it also mentions that God knows Moses name and they speak together as men
would speak to one another. There is so much interesting
things going on at this point and the instructions for the building of the
tabernacle and all the artifacts for the tabernacle are listed here in great
detail. There are a couple key verses here that I want to
point out. Exodus 34:5-9
5
Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed
his name, the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of
Moses, proclaiming, "The
LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding
in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to
thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave
the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin
of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
8
Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped. 9
"O Lord, if I have found favor in your eyes," he said, "then
let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our
wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance."
The LORD has proclaimed who He is to Moses
keep a mental note of this proclamation because it is they key of what this
book called the Bible is all about, in verse 6 and 7. We
will see a shift in these words later on after the crucifixion of Christ.
Wonder why He said “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and
gracious God”? Is this possibly a proclamation of Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit? PRaP it and see where God leads you!
