In these chapters God is still giving Moses
instructions and He also has given Bezalel and Oholiab the knowledge to build
all the things for the tent of meeting. So if you ever
wondered who built all those things then your question has just been answered.
God also again reiterated that the Sabbath was to be kept holy and
there is to be no work done on that day. Remember Moses and
Joshua, his aide, have been up on this mountain for 40 days and 40 nights and
is now about to pick up the tablets and go back down the mountain.
When Joshua heard the noise of the people he thought there was war
going on in the camp but Moses knew in his heart that the Israelites were out
of control. Well Moses had left Aaron in charge and he
failed miserably. The Israelites had within a month
forgotten all that God has done for them and took all their gold jewelry and
made an idol of a golden calf that they were dancing around and worshiping.
Well we all know that this is a HUGE sin against God so Moses threw
down the tablets and broke them at the foot of the mountain, burned up the
calf of gold, ground up the ashes and threw it into the drinking water of the
Israelites and made them drink it. Well here is another
answer to many questions. Why did the Levites get chosen to
be the priests? Well in Chapter 32 where all this is going
on start at verse 35. The Levites were the only family that
stood up and said they were for God so they were blessed above the rest.
The Levites were commanded by God to kill there neighbors and friends
because of the sin they committed and they killed about 3,000 that day and
then Moses went up to speak to God and tried to atone for their sin but God
struck them with a plague. Oh it gets wilder stay tuned God
has a message for you! Crunch, crunch, chew, chew, swallow
and take another bite!
