Well the Israelites are out in the Desert of
Sin , appropriately named I think, but now they are hungry and they begin to
grumble and complain and told Moses he should have left them in Egypt because
they sat around pots of meat and ate all they wanted. So
God out of His love sent bread which was called manna and He also sent them
quail to eat. So they had bread in the morning and meat in
the evenings and that is all they had for 40 years. Well as
they continued their journey they begin to whine about being thirsty so Moses
struck a rock with his staff and God made water come from the rock.
Wonder if that is where our modern day water fountain idea comes from?
Oh well I digress. Jethro came to visit Moses in
their travels and brought Moses’ wife and children along and when he got
there he gave Moses a way to judge the masses of complaints and troubles and
they put trustworthy men that feared God in place of tens hundreds and
thousands so that Moses could get a break. I am sure he was
going crazy from dealing with all the mess of 600,000 men. Now
they made it to Mt. Sinai and that is where God gave them the Ten
Commandments. God actually spoke them to the Israelites
Himself from atop the Mount but it scared them and they didn’t want to hear
the voice of God anymore and only wanted to hear from Moses and Aaron.
By the way the Ten Commandments should still be in affect in your life
and you should still be following them. Right? Don’t
believe me? PRaP what Jesus says in Matthew 5:17.
