Now the plague of the firstborn.  This was the worst of the plagues; this plague was so horrific that Pharaoh let the Israelites go.  God took the firstborn from Pharaoh down to the firstborn of the Egyptian servant girl, and the firstborn of the cattle.  This was also to be considered the first day of the Hebrew calendar and it was called Passover because God passed over the Hebrews and did not take their firstborn.  Can you imagine the waling and crying that was going on?  Then Pharaoh told the Hebrews to leave and God made all the Egyptians favor the Hebrews and they gave the Hebrews whatever they asked for be it silver. gold, or clothing.  Israel is free from the Egyptians and are now on their way to the promised land.  The land that was promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but God never told them this was going to a walk in the park.  When they got to the Red Sea Pharaoh had a change of heart and sent his chariots and army after the Hebrews to kill them so God performed one of His most wonderful miracles to record that millions of people were witness to.  He parted the Red Sea and the Israelites walked over on dry ground.  Once the Israelites were safely over on the other side the Egyptian army began to pursue them and then God closed the waters on top of them and destroyed Pharaoh’s army in one swoop.  Now Israel was truly free from Pharaoh and Egypt and headed towards the Promised Land.  Oh but it ain’t over yet.  Remember this is a mass of humanity, the Bible says 600,000 men not including women and children, moving through the desert.  Think about it that is probably around 2,000,000 people with their animals and possessions moving through the desert.
