This gets wilder and wilder. Now
in these chapters Dinah gets raped, her brothers get revenge which makes them
have to pack up and move. God sends them to Bethel in which
God officially changes Jacob to Israel so from this point when you see Israel
it is speaking of Jacob. Rachel dies while giving birth to
Benjamin and Isaac dies of old age 180 to be exact. Then we
go through Esau’s descendants in which Esau is called Edom and we close out
this section with Joseph, one of Israel ’s sons, having a dream that his
family would all bow to him one day. Of course this made
the older brothers mad and they sold Joseph into slavery and told their dad
that he had been eaten by a wild animal. What a mess!
Do you see God’s reasoning for including this stuff in His Word?
Mankind is mankind. It will always be the same.
We live in the same sin as they did back some 5000 years ago.
I hear some of you saying that there is no slavery anymore but I beg to
differ. Slavery can be something other than a selling of
one person to another. Drugs, alcohol, smoking, and I can
go on and on are forms of slavery. So brothers and sisters
be careful what you “teach” your siblings. You may just
be selling them into slavery. Then what are you going to
tell your parents? A wild animal ate them? This
gets better so stay tuned God has a message for you!
