Oh the plot thickens, when Rachel saw that
she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister.
Hmmm, sounds like someone else we read about just recently only it
wasn’t a sister it was a maidservant. Let’s look at the
names that are given to all these children: Reuben, Simeon, Levi , Judah ,
Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Dinah, and Joseph. One
daughter and 11 sons. All of these names are of importance
and you will see them again and again. Now after all these
kids were born God told Jacob to go back to his relatives and he left Laban
without telling him and not only that but Rachel stole Laban’s household
gods. So he chased them down. God told
Laban not to say anything good or bad to Jacob so once he caught up with him
he could do nothing but search for his idols. Rachel had
them hidden and then lied to her father about having her monthly thing so
daddy didn’t search where she was sitting. Well after
that mess was settled Jacob went on to wrestle with God and his name was
changed to Israel and God touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so he limped on
to meet up with his brother Esau whom he stole the blessing from amongst other
things and was surprised that Esau received him as a brother. Thought
that sending herds and flocks ahead of him to appease the anger of the scorned
brother was the right thing to do but God had blessed Esau and he was no
longer angry. This would make a great movie.
