The battle of the brothers continue.
Thing is Jacob had an unfair advantage over Esau because Rebekah loved
Jacob more than Esau. Rebekah helped her younger son get
Isaac’s blessing by covering his arms with goat skin and using Esau’s
clothes. Isaac when he was old was blind so he used his
hands and nose. Must have been a little hard of hearing
too. Well Jacob stole Esau’s birthrights and now was
about to steal his blessings from his father. It’s a
conspiracy I tell ya! This kind of stuff is made for TV
soap operas LOL. To get even Esau had vowed to kill his
brother and to make his dad mad so he married a Cannanite woman from Ishmaels
family. Remember we read a brief paragraph on Ishmaels
family yesterday. Now Jacob went to get a wife as well and
loved a young woman by the name of Rachel but Rachel’s dad tricked him into
laying with Rachel’s older sister Leah claiming that it is not their custom
to give the younger daughter for marriage before the older one. Well
Jacob loved Rachel and wanted her so Jacob married two women. He
loved Rachel more than Leah but Leah kept having babies. Makes
you think doesn’t it? Amazing how this dysfunctional
family is in the bloodline of our Savior. Gather the bits
and pieces and deduct God’s plan.
