“Ten Guidelines From GOD” Part
1 of 10
These are taken from an email I
received last week. I think they are perfect for this time
of year. Let’s look at these as if God was standing in
front of you telling you these things. Ok here we go:
1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and
all you do is sit and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here to take all
your burdens and carry them for you? Or do you just enjoy fretting over every
little thing that comes your way?
Well I found 15 places in the
Bible where “worry” is used. Interestingly there are
only 2 in the Old Testament.
1
Samuel 9:5
When they reached the district of Zuph, Saul said to the servant who was with
him, "Come, let's go back, or my father will stop thinking about the
donkeys and start worrying about us."
1
Samuel 9:4-6 (in Context) 1
Samuel 9 (Whole Chapter)
1
Samuel 9:20
As for the donkeys you lost three days ago, do not worry about them;
they have been found. And to whom is all the desire of Israel turned, if not
to you and all your father's family?"
1
Samuel 9:19-21 (in Context) 1
Samuel 9 (Whole Chapter)
This is the story of when
Samuel anointed Saul as leader over Israel . God used the
lost donkeys to get Saul to Samuel so he could learn of this. Great
story, it is another place that God took the least and made them greatest.
But Matthew 6 says it best lets look at what Jesus tells us about worry
in Matthew 6:25-34:
25"Therefore I tell you, do
not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more
important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or
reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you
not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single
hour to his life[b]?
28"And why do you
worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor
or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was
dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the
field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not
much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What
shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the
pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you
need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
PRaP 1 Samuel 9
Key Verse:
1
Samuel 9:21
Saul answered, "But am I not a Benjamite, from the smallest
tribe of Israel , and is not my clan the least of all the clans
of the tribe of Benjamin? Why do you say such a thing to
me?"

Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask and it will be given
to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who
knocks, the door will be opened."
