“First Person”  Part 3 of 5

Excuse #2: 13 Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"

Wow what a lack of faith.  Sounds like Moses doesn’t have any faith.  Not only in himself but in his brothers and sisters.  He is worried about what others may think if he comes in and starts saying, “Well God told me to tell you…”  I have that fear too sometimes.  In my radio programs I always say “Stay tuned God has a message for you!”  Now if I worried about what people thought of me and what message I am bringing I think I would have questioned God as well.  Actually to be honest at first I thought I was losing my mind but a dear person told me I couldn’t lose something I didn’t have to begin with. LOL  SO THAT BEING SAID!  I figured, what do I have to lose?  Well I knew it wasn’t my mind. LOL  When God tells us something we are to trust Him to open the hearts of everyone He puts in front of us.   But I know what Moses was thinking.  “You know God I killed someone and everyone knows about it and I have sinned so much that I have no credibility.”  Well God has credibility you need not worry about yours, right?  God knew that Moses credibility was not what we say acceptable.  So God changed the hearts of the Israelites with the miracles that Moses was able to do with the staff.  Here is what God told Moses to say if they questioned him.

14 God said to Moses, "I am who I am . [b] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' "

Not I was or I will be or I can be but “I AM”.  Not saying that He is going to be there tomorrow or next week but He is there now.  God is here in the present.  God is saying that I am here NOW!  His power would be felt immediately and not some time in the future.  Is I AM with you?

Key verse:
Exodus 3:15
God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.
