“Do You have One of Those?”

One of the most powerful gifts of God is children.  A most amazing miracle.  The biggest ministry you could ever have in your life is raising children in the ways of Biblical Truth in Christ.  God knows I love my children in ways that nobody else can.  Both of my sons are called special needs kids and I have to agree with that statement.  They always need something special to hold on to.  You all can kind of feel where this is going can’t you?  OK so I won’t delay anymore.  I have one that I put on the path and he will be chugging along at full speed and only once in a while sways to the left and when I nudge him he gets back on track.  Now the other son I put on the path and he is all over the place.  He doesn’t sway he swings LOL.  I actually have to grab the steering wheel from him before he has these head on collisions.  He will swing to the right and be over kill on kindness to the point of pain and then he will swing over to the left and make you think that he has the devil himself in him.  Fortunately I have God driving so my hands are free to grab him when he makes these erratic turns left or right.  I lovingly grab the wheel and slowly steer him back on course and I turn on the cruise control to keep the pace slow and steady and before I blink an eye at times he will shut it off and floor it.  Well I feel as though I am constantly in one of those chase scenes in the movies trying to catch up to this kid to slam on the brakes to slow him down.  When the slow gentle turns back on the path don’t work I reach out and turn the wheel hard to get him back on the path. Thing is once I have them both steady as she goes someone will put a speed bump and the road and oh joy here we go again.  One will slow down and gently go over the bump safely and the other will floor it and see how much air he can catch in the process.  Every time I have one of these moments the “Prodigal Son” comes to mind.  I just pray that they don’t have to go down to the pig boy level to realize what they have.  My question is, do you have one of these?  Are you using the Bible as your guide or are you following the world’s path to drug them and forget them?  I know that some kids absolutely need the medication and God uses the doctors in His healing process.  But in those processes are you teaching your child that they have to control their actions and attitudes themselves?  Medicine is not ALWAYS the answer.  I look forward to the day that it kicks in with my son.  Just like in “The Parable of the Lost Son”.   Because my response will be:
22"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.

I find it very interesting that it is the younger son that is spoken of here.
