“Woosh!  Another Day Gone”

I went to bed last night wondering where the day went and I woke up this morning wondering where the night went and then I looked at the date and am wondering where the year went.  Last thing I remember was waking up on January 1 and now it is already November 8.  What is up with that?  I find the older I get the faster the days seem to fly by.  Wasn’t it just yesterday that I was at the lake with dad frustrating him every time I tangled the line when I cast or hung it up in a tree?  Wait I remember I was just under the hood of that old Plymouth Valiant trying to get it to run again.  Wait it was just yesterday that I dropped my son off for his first day of school.  I wonder if God looks at things like this.  I wonder if he is saying, “You know it was just yesterday that I said ‘Let there be light’”.  No, he isn’t saying that because of his omnipotence he is still in the first day saying it.  He is still on that fishing trip with my dad and I and under the hood and at that first day of school.  But He says in His word that this life is precious and very short and we should live it to the fullest.  Love deeply and long be quick to listen and slow to speak.  Be patient , kind, without envy and do not boast or proud.  He wants us to not be rude or self-seeking, not easily angered and never keep a record of wrong that someone does against us.  He doesn’t want us to delight in evil and He wants us to rejoice with the truth.  He wants us to always protect and trust and hope.  He wants us to persevere because He never fails.  Yes that is from 1 Corinthians 13 but my point today is that we are not promised our next breath.  What are you going to do with yours?
