“For the joy of the LORD is your strength!”

This is from Nehemiah 8 when the Book of the Law of God was read to the people of Israel .  When these people heard God’s law they began to weep and were on their face in worship to God.  After this they were in celebration to God for seven days living in booths made of palm branches and other materials.

"Go out into the hill country and bring back branches from olive and wild olive trees, and from myrtles, palms and shade trees, to make booths"-as it is written. [b]

After the reading of the Word the priests had to go through and calm people from their weeping.

The Levites calmed all the people, saying, "Be still, for this is a sacred day. Do not grieve."

Have you ever experienced anything like this today?  Had such a worship service that it went on for 7 days?  To feel what these people felt to be in worship such as this I would find it amazing.  How I would love to give it up to God like this.  But we live in a world that this doesn’t take place any more.  We take God for granted.  We know He is there and we worship him on Sunday and sometimes Wednesday but what about just an all out worship fest?  Let’s have a Jesus pa loosa, a Woodstock like Jesus Fest, a reading of the Bible from day break to noon in a way that all will understand.  Let’s start on Sunday and lay it all on the line for Christ and worship face down to the ground and then celebrate for 7 days and then end in an assembly to give thanks.  Let’s live in booths for the week and enjoy food and sweet drinks and send some to those who have none and have them join the celebration of God.  Show the world that the joy of the LORD is your strength!  Think about it
