“How Does God Speak To You?”
Those of you in the Houston area that listen
to KSBJ heard this question asked today on their radio station. As
I was driving in I was listening to them talk about this and I began to think
about it myself. There was one lady that said 18 wheelers
is how God spoke to her and there was another man that was driving down the
road and a piece of paper flew into his window which was a page from the phone
book with all the Jesus names that were listed. The DJ said
it was through his wife that God speaks to him. Well how
does God speak to you? God speaks to me through His Word,
dreams, through people and through events in my life and events of the people
around me. When I am still and quiet I hear His voice
softly speaking and sometimes I hear it loud and clear and booming like a loud
speaker. When the Holy Spirit moves upon me I hear Him in
song and through the things He writes through me. I hear
Him through my children and through my listeners. The
“Ask the Pastor Show” has been a great tool for God to speak to not just
me but everyone who listens in. Mostly God speaks to me
through His Word. Everything I hear I line up with His Word
anyway. I never take what I hear especially in my mind
without lining it up with what is written in the Bible. I
keep my mind focused on Christ throughout my day and it gets easier to discern
God’s voice from the other garbage out there. And there
is so much garbage out there, cursing, and blasphemy, mocking Christ, sexual
comments, thievery, sickness, drunkenness, and just plain old evil in the
world. It makes it difficult to keep focus and I see why so
many have accepted things of this world as truth instead of the infallible
Word of God. Focus is a learned thing it is not something
that happens over night you have to practice, practice, practice and when you
think you got it practice some more. Oh yes and don’t
forget once you decide to focus your day upon Christ you will be attacked but
don’t give up because the rewards are abundant. You will
find that no matter what happens around you the stress level is reduced.
You will find that you don’t freak out over things that go wrong.
I don’t know if we will ever reach total peace as long as we are
walking here on this earth but I know it will get easier and easier as your
focus grows stronger and stronger. Fix your eyes on Jesus
daily.
PRaP Hebrews 12
Key Verse:
Hebrews
12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross,
scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask and it will be given
to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who
knocks, the door will be opened."
