“Chains Revisited” Originally sent
7/20/2005 (Revised Somewhat)
There are many kinds of chains.
Some are made of gold and silver. Some are made of
steel and some of rope. But there are chains in life that
can destroy year after year. Chains of abuse and chains of
hate! These chains can carry on from generation to
generation. They have many faces. There
are no cultural or societal boundaries that these chains cannot cross.
Not all chains are bad and some lead to peace. We watch and listen to
television and other media broadcast that bombard us on a day to day basis the
chains of violence, hatred, and death. Please remember there are chains of
hope, kindness, faith, love, and even in our own salvation. We
can take chains and weld them to other chains and we can take chains of abuse
and break them or weld them into chains of healing and then weld them into
salvation and faith. These chains of healing have no set
order but the ultimate welding is in Salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
We each are a link of chain in this life. You can be
a strong link and be the center with many other chains attached to you who
branch out and then some of those links grow strong through the fire of the
Furnace and have many other chains attached to them. If you
look at the chain there are so many links and in the end we all are linked
back to one Big Link. God is the Alpha and the Omega.
He is the beginning and the end. Even when a link is
broken or God chooses to remove a link there are other links close by that we
can be welded to. Even non believer's chains link back to
God. They may not like it and they may deny it but we know
the Truth. There are two main chains linking to heaven, the
links that believe and the links that don't believe. The
links that believe are strong and cannot be broken from the Big Link.
They may be snapped away on occasion but they will always be a part of
a chain that leads back to God. Sometimes we are put among
weak links in the chain to test our strength and our ability to strengthen
other links. We are also put in between weak links to break
them and see if we can make it back to the stronger links. You
can say that our chain is tossed into the fire to strengthen it. The
weak ones become brittle and break away but in their breaking away they are
recycled and added to other weak links which when attached to a stronger chain
will be strengthened.
Here is a chain that I want you

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who
knocks, the door will be opened."
