“Renewal”

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-3 (in Context) Romans 12 (Whole Chapter)

I wanted to start with the key verse today.  It is so important to PRaP this verse.  Do not conform to the pattern of this world.  So many people fall into the traps laid out by the world.  So many that did not see it coming.  Blindsided by the world.  It is no fun to say the least.  Last week I spoke of being battle weary and how we seek our peace in Christ.  Today I want to speak of renewal in Christ.  The first thing that we have to do to be renewed is to drop our worldly conformity.  We have to transform our minds to the being like Christ not of this world.  This is not an easy thing when the world is slapping you in the face every time you open your eyes.  Once again it takes the asking, seeking, and knocking on the door so that Christ can open the doors for us.  Doing these things will allow us to test and approve what God’s will is.  Requires us to be conscious of the Holy Spirit in us to test and discern God’s perfect will.  Renew your mind and be not of this world.  Be transformed by the Holy Spirit to be conformed into God’s perfect will for your life.

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[b]faith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Got Jesus?
Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
