“Battle Weary”

Soldiers who have fought in war understand those two words.  When they get to that point they know it is time to find a place of rest.  Those of us that are on the front lines in the spiritual battle also know what this is.  No, we don’t have bombs going off around us, or do we?  No, we don’t have people aiming guns at us, or do we?  No, there aren’t tanks targeting us or aircraft over head trying to blast us out of the sky, or do we?  The world has become a violent place to live.  Every night when I watch the news I see more and more violence.  I have become battle weary.  I am looking for a place to rest.  I search high and low for a cave or a hole in the ground, oh maybe I can climb a tree and be away from the battle for a while.

25At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. 26Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.
27"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

I find my rest in Jesus Christ.  He stops me and lays my head down for a rest.  It doesn’t mean that He will not send me back into battle because the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  I will be in my resting place this weekend.  I will be in the arms of Jesus rebuilding my spirit.  Making myself battle ready again.  Building my strength.  Preparing for the road ahead of me.  For God is Great and His plan is perfect in every way.  Victory is His and in His victory those who believe and follow the way of Christ are victorious as well.  For the scapegoat need not travel any further than the arms of Christ for the forgiveness of sin.  Let Jesus heal the battle wounds.  Let Christ renew your battle armor that for when you do re-enter the battle it will be stronger.  You know that in order for steel to grow stronger it has to be beaten with a stronger piece of steel.  We are the sword and Jesus is our hammer.  Steel strengthens steel.  So when the battle rages and you grow weary go to the resting place which is in the arms of Christ.

Got Jesus?
Matthew 7:7-8
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
