"Is Folks Gone Crazy!"
I am a man on the outside looking in but dang, have people just gone
totally daft? I love to cook out just as much as the next guy but you have
to be safe in doing so. My new neighbors have this HUGE pit on wheels. A
converted 55 gallon drum basically. They have it on their patio no biggy
but really you should pull the thing away from the wall more than 3 feet
when you fire it up. It was about 7:30 last night and I started smelling
this exhaust odor and couldn't figure out where it was coming from so I
opened the front door to see if maybe someone got stuck in the ditch out in
front of the apartment and left their engine running. Well I didn't see
anything so I opened the back door and WOOOSH the heat hit me and the odor
hit me. My neighbor decided to have a cook out and the pit was no more
then 3 feet away from the wall and the flames were going up about 4 feet
above the pit. And get this there was nobody outside watching it. So
needless to say I was a little uneasy and I went and got my fire
extinguisher and waited for the screams. Thankfully God had it and nothing
bad came of it. I will be asking the neighbor to please not test God again
by grilling by the apartment walls again. Our apartment has this wonderful
treated wood exterior that when dry could easily catch fire and not only
that we are on the wooded side meaning if the apartment catches fire so do
the woods next to us and it could spread all the way to the creek and there
are a couple of office complexes sitting amongst the trees. Next time you
cook out look around and make sure that your grill isn't going to burn down
the house. This can also pertain to your walk with Jesus. Do you test Him
by walking close to the flames? Do you build your camp site next to the
gates of hell? Sure it's warm there but come on it is also dangerous. You
know there is a reason that they put fences around Nuclear Power
Facilities, right? Your not going to take your child into a bomb factory
to play with fireworks, are you? When we walk with Jesus we do not walk on
the edge of the volcano to test Him. The idea here folks is to allow Him
to lead us. He will walk with you on the edge but why would you want to do
that? Walking with Jesus is not supposed to be extreme sports. Think
about it!
