"Penny a Day"
I have a question for you. A test so to speak. A wealthy man says to you,
"I have a million dollars I want to give to you. You can have that right
now or I will give you a penny a day doubled every day for 31 days". Most
that I have asked wanted the million dollars. Our world is so geared to
instant gratification. We want it now now now and fast fast fast.
Patience is not our strong point and most will not ask God for it because
the trials that go along with asking for patience. Come on be strong in
your faith ask God for patience. I did, and it isn't easy. I have to ask
over and over again sometimes. But His persistence and His patience with
me is starting to pay off. I am beginning to see it but the true test of
my trial is does anyone else see it? I guess you would have to know me
before I began asking for patience. I asked God for the patience of Job.
Then I began to see things happening in my life that required much patience
and I failed miserably almost every time. Then I started thinking about
what I asked for and I changed my prayer. I asked Daddy for a patience
like His. God's patience. Over and over again He stands back and waits
patiently for us to come to Him. Patiently He waits for us to finally do
the right thing. He waits patiently for us to finally come and confess our
sins to Him. That's the kind of patience I want. The kind of patience
that no matter what is thrown my way I can wait. And not only wait but
wait patiently. I was told by a wise Rabbi once that time equals God's
patience. How true that statement is. SO back to my question. Do you
want the million bucks right now or are you willing to wait 31 days. I
have learned that when that question is given to me again I will wait and
have the penny please. A penny a day doubled every day for 31 days equals
over 10 million dollars. The moral here is not the money but the patience
because we all know that the love of money is wrong.
