"Decrease For an Increase"

I love reading about John the Baptist, his job was clear and he fulfilled
his purpose according to God's will for him. I see myself as a cross
between John the Baptist and the Apostle Paul. I try and model my work for
the Lord using the scriptures based upon their lives. Other than Christ,
John the Baptist was my first Biblical hero. I was so impressed by this
man that wanted to live in solitude and be alone in his life yet when God
told him to make straight the path for the Lord he came out of his cave in
the desert and began to preach, teach and baptize in the name of the Lord.
John was put here on this earth for one purpose and that was to prepare the
path for Jesus. Once Jesus was baptized by John, he knew that his purpose
was fulfilled and in John 3:30 John says, "He must become greater; I must
become less." See John the Baptist knew that Jesus is the Christ and that
he must lose his life in order to gain eternal life. He knew that he had
to become lesser so that when he was called home that his eternity was in
place. For it is also written, the last will be first and the first will
be last. How much do you decrease so that Christ will increase? Remember
that when He comes back we have to be less.
